its a really great way to save. together, they cost me about 90 dollars A YEAR. another great feature of this phone is that you can plug in your landline connection to it to make emergency 911 calls even if you dont have a plan i'm definitely impressed with this phone, but even more so with the skype service. i have a one year skype in number and a one year skype out subscription.
I have also a income phone number sold by skype and the quality of calls are amazing. The good news is that the same phone is now been sold by Netgear without the iPhone trademark. I have been use this Voip phone for more than 1 year. According with some informations this phone is already discontinued from linksys. The Linksys CIT400 iPhone is now available as the Netgear SPH200D. I love this phone. It has been save me a lot of money in local and international calls.
The phone works well and I am very satisfied. However, this Amazon third-party merchant, "Toyzz", is just ripping you off at this outrageous price of $329.99. I bought the CIT400 just a few months ago from Amazon.com for $79. and shame on Amazon for allowing their customers to be exposed to this type of nonsense. What a joke.Do not buy from price gougers like "Toyzz". I'm talking Amazon.com prime. the real Amazon.
My patience paid off.As for the phone itself, I am very satisfied with the call quality (about the same as when running Skype on a computer). The only minor glitches I found are: sometimes the clock resets itself without any reason and needs to be manually adjusted (automatic syncing over the internet would be nice); entering long user-names or passwords with the alpha-numeric keyboard can be fastidious, especially given the fact that logging-in is required after a power outage (of more than just a few minutes); check your privacy settings frequently, because this phone tends to reset to allowing all incoming Skype calls rather than, say, just those originating from your contacts. I bought this Skype wireless phone in may 2008, and at the time I paid 90$ for it on Amazon (with free shipping). Now that Linksys has discontinued it, you can only find it above 200$, and that is outrageous.Last week I needed to buy a second one for my parents and I got lucky: for a few hours, it was available again directly through Amazon for around 120$ with free shipping.
The call quality and feel of the phone is great. This product has made calling as seamless as using a traditional wireless phone. I would recommend this phone with out hesitation. I am happy that I found this product. I have been shying away from Skype because I did not want to be tethered to the computer while I make calls.
